Anniversary Evensong 2025
On 5 June the Friends enjoyed a special Choral Evensong to celebrate 159 years since the consecration of Old St Paul’s on 6 June 1866.
As the building enters its 160th year, marking this year’s anniversary with a choral evensong made a lovely link back to Old St Paul’s original life as the parish church of Thorndon and diocesan pro-cathedral. Cathedral staff Dean Katie Lawrence and Canon Sue Paton led the service following the traditional 1662 Prayer Book.

Annual General Meeting March 2025
It was lovely to see many of you at the Friends AGM on 25 March. We were treated to a delightful talk by Te Papa’s textile team, Rachael Collinge and Sam Gatley, on their collaborative project to conserve an exquisite Regency era gown, gifted to the museum in 1982. Made for a Miss Ramsey of Bath, the delicate silk gown, trimmed with pale blue satin and lace, was in poor condition, and its silk net overskirt completely in shreds.
Annual Citizens Carol Service
The Friends Annual Citizens Carol Service will be on Tuesday 3 December, at 6.30 pm. Bring along your family and friends to enjoy traditional carols, in the magical setting of Christmas at Old St Paul’s.

Blessing of the Bells
The Friends are thrilled to announce that after over 80 years of wandering, Old St Paul’s original tenor bronze bell is now back in the Church and on display in the belfry porch. Everyone visiting Old St Paul’s can now get up close and discover its fascinating story.
